Rabbit farming (or cuniculiculture ) is the raising of domestic rabbits. It developed during the Middle Ages in Europe, but it only took off recently. Its main purpose is the production of meat, and sometimes that of hair ( angora rabbits ) or fur, or even the supply of laboratory animals for their experiments. It is also a hobby farm for some, who present their purebred animals at fairs and exhibitions. Recently, rabbits have also been raised as pets.
